Being a cloud-based accounting company, Findlay & Co relies heavily on internet access and we believe that having fast internet is integral to running our business efficiently. From day one we have been behind Wanaka’s bid to win the Chorus Gigatown competition and become the first town in the Southern Hemisphere to receive access to a 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps) internet connection.
Wanaka has made it to the finals of the competition and with just a month left, we are now competing head to head with Dunedin, Nelson, Timaru and Gisborne. Wanaka is the smallest player in the finals and because our points are no longer population adjusted, we are the underdogs. We would like to ask our clients and friends not already associated with one of these towns, to please get behind GigatownWanaka! We need help from out of town, we need YOU!

In a recent Q&A session with GigatownWanaka, we talked about the Gigatown Competition and what winning the competition means to this town:
Q: Tell us how will having access to connected technology, UFB
(Ultra Fast Broadband) or Gigabit Fibre would benefit your business?
A: “We are a cloud based accounting firm so UFB means a lot! Speed is essential to productivity for our clients.
Q: What piece of connected technology could your business not operate without?”
A: “Internet – Fast internet!”
Q: What is your vision for Wanaka as a smart town?”
A: “We see it as being the leading town, ‘the hub’ for techy, savvy companies doing smart business in NZ. Also, help and mentor other towns to be smart, cloud based companies/businesses.”
