| Bridget Legnavsky - 47 Frocks | ![]() |

Bridget Legnavsky has recently opened up a high end women’s clothing store in Wanaka called 47 Frocks. Her business partner Anna Brewster is a long time friend and Wanaka local. Both girls were existing clients of Findlay and Co so they met with Wayne as they launched their dream store. They opened at the end of March 2010 under the watchful eye of Wayne. Wayne worked with the girls to forecast expenditure versus projected sales. This was a valuable process as “We didn’t know where to start. Wayne created a platform as a base from which to begin planning. This was drawn from industry bench marks and helped us to set realistic sales targets. These goals in turn helped us to manage purchasing stock and mapping yearly sales.” As a partnership having Findlay and Co involved meant the girls had an independent party to discuss the financial structure and planning with from the start. “Discussing the financial aspect of the business with an impartial expert meant we got great advice and that we could get back to the fashion and not worry about this side of the business. We felt safe guarded and confident having Wayne involved from the start”. Having come from other industries, for Bridget this meant “translating my knowledge and experience from the ski industry into retail – which is very similar.” Bridget described Wayne as being easy to talk to and encouraging. The girls are currently having their first sale and this conversation was conducted in the throngs of a store buzzing with women enjoying some style right here in Wanaka. The girls will be off to fashion week later in the year to ensure Wanaka women can be kept up to date with the National catwalks. |

| When Dr David Beaumont started a new business, Fit for Work, he wanted an accountant who offered more interaction than the usual once a year meeting to discuss end of year accounts. David says, "Wayne set up quarterly meetings with the directors and we worked through quarterly accounts and started to forecast and budget expenditure. "When business took off we were ready to move into the next phase and recruit another member of staff. With increased expenses, Wayne advised us about how this would impact on our business structure. The process helped us to focus on our business and have awkward questions asked of us to keep the business on track." |

Duane Tiplady keeps his finger on the pulse of his business by meeting Scott Findlay every six months for a tax forecast. He uses the time with Scott to talk about all aspects of his business and says, "It's a good opportunity to review the business and see what the tax liabilities are going to be, rather than letting it build up the whole year." He started regular reviews to avoid "shock treatments" at tax time. Duane says, "Scott has a good understanding of our business. He's got to know us and gives us the best advice for our situation." |

| Anna Brewster - 47 Frocks | ![]() |

Anna is a well known Wanaka business woman who recently sold out of Locations Realty after 15 years in real estate. She has opened 47Frocks, Wanaka’s very own high fashion store with her friend Bridget Legnavsky. Anna’s association with Findlay & Co goes right back to when Wayne first came to Wanaka. He has advised and overseen her accounts on both a personal and business level. “What I like about Wayne is that he is always available to talk to and discuss any ideas, problems or give advice. His knowledge and expertise has been invaluable to me over the years. He also knows my business and accounts inside out so there is no need to explain my situation. Retail is a new venture for me and Wayne has been extremely helpful providing advice, giving cash flow projections and making sure Bridget and I are on the same page right from the start.” We are pleased to be on board with this exciting new business – a little touch of high street right here in our main street. |
